Why Most Leadership Programs Don’t Stick (and How to Fix It)
-
[00:00:00] the locker room is back. . Have you ever wondered why after going to a conference or a two or three day intensive training, you came back, the vibes were high, might have felt a little brain dead. Although you may have had amazing intentions of applying everything you learned, you came back only to find that several months later, maybe you implemented one thing.
There's research that shows that you implement a fraction of what you learn at all day, intensivess and conferences.
And here's why.
Do you ever feel like your brain is full and you can't take in anything else? That's a real proven theory and it's called cognitive load. And what that means is that your brain can really only absorb so much information before, essentially it just gets a little saturated. And that is why at full day conferences, two or three day intensives,
as much as you try, you really can't remember every single little thing. You might take away a few nuggets with you, but you're likely not going to implement everything. The other reason that happens is because you're learning in a controlled environment where you don't have an opportunity to apply it in your real world and [00:01:00] with your real team.
So here's how we fix those things and why I structure my leadership development program the way that I have.
Number one, having bite-sized chunks of information. I have found that three hours works best where there's lots of activity you're practicing in real time hits the sweet spot of not having too much information that your brain feels like it's in overdrive.
Second, having space and time to go back and apply the things you've just learned with your real teams, allows you to put it into practice, fumble around with it a little bit, learn how it's going, and then build upon it.
My leadership development program follows a very intentional structure so that when leaders come out the other side, they are leading differently and better. Their teams are higher performing, they have implemented a lot of practices, and they have built some momentum in applying the things that they have learned.
Leaders come out of this program leading differently, leading better and well on their way to having a high performing team.
There are six, three hour in-person sessions. Every two weeks. And in between those sessions, there's an optional virtual group coaching call where you can hop on with me and the other people in your [00:02:00] cohort to talk about the application and practice of what you learned in the session before, and talk about anything leadership related.
If you are looking for more individualized support, there is a VIP option
that has two individual coaching sessions with me to be scheduled within six months of completing the program.
There are limited seats, and a sweet early bird discount that ends on June 27th, 2025. Hope to see you there.
