Why Your Team’s Struggling (and the Simple Fix You’re Probably Overlooking)
If you’ve ever led a team and thought:
“I figured it out on my own… why can’t they?”
you’re not alone.
I hear this constantly from founders and entrepreneurs who bootstrapped their way to success. But leading others? That’s a different game.
The #1 performance driver isn’t hustle, talent, or motivation — it’s clarity. And just because you had it doesn’t mean your team does.
Here’s the one habit you can implement today to lead with more clarity and help your team perform stronger — no micromanaging required :)

[00:00:00] I work with a lot of founders and entrepreneurs,
people who have small businesses and have scaled, and now have employees. And a common theme comes up when I'm talking with these people.
This idea that I just bootstrapped it. I figured it out. They should figure it out, can't they do that? Why do I have to be so clear with them? So let's talk about the why and then how you do it. There is research in the performance improvement space
that highlights the need for clarity. The number one indicator of someone performing well is clear information, and what that means is essentially that they know where they're going. They know the goal, they know what's expected of them. If you tell them, I need this done to this standard, what does that mean?
People can't do the job if they don't know what the job is. So here is how you start becoming more clear without it feeling overwhelming.
Start by asking people individually, what do you need in order to do your job successfully? Is there anything standing in your way? Is there anything I can clear up for you? By opening the door for people to express where they're not clear, you'll start to see where things should be more clear in order for 'em to succeed.
While there [00:01:00] are many other things you can and should do to be super clear with your teams, like having great goal setting, good strategic planning, great performance expectations start here and let me know how it goes.
